Residency Genesis

APMA, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, and partners like the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM) Council of Teaching Hospitals, are committed to meeting the need for podiatric medical residency positions, with the goal that every eligible graduating podiatric medical student should have a residency position.

APMA encourages its members to be a part of the effort to develop new residency programs. Become involved in the faculty of local programs; encourage your hospital to start a residency program; or share information about institutions you believe could support a new residency program. Not only does your involvement help tomorrow's podiatrists—it's also a great tool for your practice! By becoming involved with a residency program, you expand your referral network and earn supplementary income. You're also becoming an asset to your institution: Podiatric medical residencies, unlike allopathic and osteopathic programs, are not capped for graduate medical education reimbursement, so by starting a program at your hospital, you bring a new revenue stream for your hospital administration.
