Diabetes Awareness

Whether you’re living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, you have a higher risk of serious complications in your feet, including infection and amputation. You're playing the long game with diabetes, so it's important to establish healthy habits early in your journey to prevent those complications and help keep you active.

Foot care is part of diabetes care. Be sure to keep an appointment with an APMA-member podiatrist at least once a year. If you don’t have access to a podiatrist through your health-care system, ask your primary care physician to check your feet during regular visits.

Check out our tip sheet to get important tips for maintaining good foot health, watch videos from a podiatrist living with diabetes, and learn more below about winning your long game with diabetes!
