About APMA

Supporting the Foundation

A gift to the APMA Educational Foundation provides support for the foundation's efforts to provide and promote quality foot health education, support research related to foot health, and provide scholarships to deserving students in podiatric medical colleges. Described below are a variety of ways to support the APMA Educational Foundation.

Make a Donation

Annual Giving Campaign

General donations can be made to support the APMA Educational Foundation Student Scholarship Fund or Educational Programs through the annual giving campaign. Each year, the foundation sets a goal to raise funding for student scholarships. This year, the goal is to raise $200,000 for student scholarships. The foundation awards scholarships to eligible second-, third-, and fourth-year students from the nine accredited podiatric medical colleges. Make your tax-deductible contribution of $100 or more today and help support our students.

You can make a contribution online or submit a donor form by mail to the address below:

Memorials and Honors Program

Through the Memorials and Honors Program, donations can be made in recognition of significant life events such as graduation, recovery from illness or surgery, death of a friend or loved one, or those in our profession who have made contributions to the profession and who have served in leadership roles. Honorees will receive a letter to inform them that a special gift has been made in their honor. Letters are also sent to family members informing them that a memorial gift was made in memory of their loved one.

To make a contribution, please fill out a donor form and fax or mail the completed form to the APMA Educational Foundation. Memorial and Honors donations benefit the annual giving campaign.

Named Endowment

Setting up a named endowment is a great way to support the profession, and one that offers you the opportunity to place the fund in your family's name or to honor or memorialize a loved one.

Named endowments are established with a minimum donation or pledge of $25,000 paid over a maximum of five years. The interest generated is then available year after year to support the podiatric medical student scholarship program or educational programs, depending on the donor's interest. Over the past 15 years, 68 podiatrists and corporations combined have established named endowments in support of podiatric medicine and podiatric medical scholarships totaling more than $6 million.

To set up a named endowment, contact Tina Carter, director, corporate and foundation relations, at 301-581-9240, or by email.

Planned Giving: The Legacy Circle

The APMA Educational Foundation has established the Legacy Circle to honor those who have included the foundation in their estate plan. Gifts through wills, bequests or charitable remainder trusts are only a few examples of planned giving opportunities that can support the foundation. The goal of the Legacy Circle is to encourage and recognize planned gifts made by members of the podiatric profession to help continue the growth and stability of podiatric medicine through student scholarships and increase nationwide awareness of foot and ankle health.

These planned giving options provide tax benefits and are excellent way to give back to the podiatry profession. To enroll in the Legacy Circle, contact Tina Carter, director, corporate and foundation relations, at 301-581-9240, or by email and provide written notice to the foundation that you have included the APMA Educational Foundation in your estate plan.

The APMA Educational Foundation encourages all of its donors to seek qualified counsel in establishing an estate plan. If you are currently seeking a financial expert to write or revise your estate plan, contact Tina Carter, director, Corporate & Foundation Relations, who will provide you with the name of a financial expert from the New York Life Insurance Company or the J.K. Meek Group at Graystone Consulting. You will be able to choose a financial expert who fits your needs.

If you already have listed the foundation as a beneficiary, please let the foundation know in writing so your name can be highlighted as a planned giving donor in the Legacy Circle.

If you have any questions, contact Tina Carter, director, corporate and foundation relations, at 301-581-9240, or by email.
