Take the Physician Call Coverage Burden & Compensation Survey

  • Mar 31, 2025

APMA is once again partnering with BFMV on its annual Physician Call Coverage Survey. Each year, BFMV surveys physicians to collect comprehensive call coverage burden and compensation data. The 2025 survey is currently in data collection. Participation takes less than five minutes, and contributors will receive free access to the full survey results. To participate, use this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HB3VX2K.

BFMV, a national firm that specializes in the valuation of health care, collects unique on-call burden and compensation information, including:

  • Compensation (hourly and per 24-hour shift)
  • Weekend/holiday differentials
  • Days on-call per month
  • Average phone call volume per 24-hour shift
  • Required in-person response time
  • Average in-person visits per shift
  • Average hours of telemedicine services per call shift
  • Whether clinic visits / elective procedures are permitted while on call
  • >Other opportunities to generate income (professional billings, activation fees, productivity credit)

APMA has heard from members about the disparate treatment of hospitals’ on-call coverage rules between doctors of podiatric medicine and other physicians.  This data will help APMA and its members demonstrate the disparity and advocate for parity and equitable treatment.
