APMA formally endorses HR 657, The VA Continuing Professional Education Modernization Act, sponsored by Rep. Julia Brownley (D-CA). The bill would give Continuing Medical Education allowances for VA podiatrists and other health-care clinicians. Under current law, only MDs/DOs and dentists receive such an allowance by the VA.
Federal Services Podiatric Medical Association Executive Director Steve Goldman, DPM, and several California podiatrists met with Rep. Brownley’s staff during the APMA Legislative Conference. During the meeting, Rep. Brownley’s staff specifically requested that APMA and FSPMA endorse this legislation. APMA and FSPMA continue to communicate with Rep. Brownley’s office to help move the legislation forward.
