A new ICD-10-CM code set becomes effective October 1. All providers must use the new code set for services provided on or after October 1. There are changes in the new code set pertinent to foot and ankle coders, including diabetes, Sever’s disease, dermatologic conditions, and more.
One pertinent change is that “Calcaneal apophysitis” will be deleted as an inclusion term under M92.8 (Other specified juvenile osteochondrosis) while Sever’s disease will remain an inclusion term under M92.6- (Juvenile osteochondrosis of tarsus).
APMA will host a webinar covering podiatry-relevant coding changes for the new year on September 19. Register now! Also, APMA Coding Resource Center (CRC) subscribers can view a full list of podiatry-relevant changes now on the CRC home page.
