The APMA Center for Professional Advocacy (CPA) hosted the next installment of its ongoing Mini Summit Series: "Navigating Contract Negotiations," on July 16. A recording of the event is now available at www.apma.org/minisummit.
This summit, part of APMA’s work to support podiatric physicians in their professional development, focused on strategies and advice for podiatric physicians navigating contracting for private practice or with a hospital. Featured speakers included Naomi Schmid, DPM, and Derek Pantiel, DPM. Both Dr. Pantiel and Dr. Schmid spent time highlighting key considerations and common pitfalls that an associate contracting with a hospital or a private practice would face.
The discussions also addressed broader themes related to contract negotiations, such as understanding compensation structures, effective negotiation tactics, and the importance of thorough contract review. CPA staff also presented on the APMA’s relationship with the MGMA. This ongoing collaboration provides APMA members with access to valuable data, benchmarking tools, and best practices in practice management and contract negotiations, enhancing their professional development and operational efficiency. Lastly, attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with speakers, ask questions, and participate in an open discussion, gaining deeper insights into effective negotiation practices.
